This is the seventh busiest airport in Australia and one of my favorite because of beach to dining to shopping, sold by the queensland government to a private consortium in december 2008 and previously administered by the cairns port authority. Cairns airport is situated between mount whitfield to the west and trinity bay to the east. This is the only city in the world to have two world heritage sites, the great barrier reef and the daintree rainforest, side by side.
There are many of unique wildlife species to be found here, including those in the rainforest, outback, and ocean. While most are harmless, some are to avoid, such as crocodiles, marine stingers, snakes, spiders, and cassowaries.
