CNS is one of Australia’s main regional airports, offering flights to a variety of domestic and international destinations. Nestled between mountains, mangroves, and the coral sea, it is the gateway to the world heritage great barrier reef and tropical rainforests of north queensland, and it is only 7 kilometers from cairns CBD. Runways:

The airport has a single runway that is 3,156 meters long. The flight path to the north of the main runway passes immediately over cairns’ northern beach areas, while the path to the south passes straight over the center of cairns. To the east, there is usually a short runway used for general aviation, whose final approach crosses the main runway. As of april 2011, this runway was closed and turned into a helipad area.
